This morning, I made my first pot of Organic Ceylon Thotulagala.

It’s a black tea with small leaves.  I steeped it for 3 minutes in boiling water — the directions were 3-4 minutes.  It was very mild — a little too mild for me, I think.  The next pot, I will steep for 4 minutes.

Overall, it’s good, not too “earthy,” more yeasty than malty.  I can imagine it would be perfect for someone to make a traditional cup of tea with sugar and cream, which is not my thing.  My preference is for an aggressive black tea — the kind that lights a fire under me, or kicks me in the teeth.

It’s relatively cheap at $26.99 per pound, which would make 7 cups for 50 cents.
